Leif Ivar Soliem
Skier
“Leif resides in Oslo, Norway and competes in road races, mountain bike races, running races and Nordic ski races. There is a famous (infamous?) race known throughout the endurance world called the Birkebeiner triple in which Leif placed 6th overall in his
Class in 2009. It is comprised of 3 separate races at different times of the year: Birkbeinerritte (90km mountain bike race), Birkbeinerlopet (23 km running race) and Birkebeirerremet (54 km ski race).
Contemplate the fact that the ski race alone boasted 14,779 entries and 13,190 finishers, meaning there are close to as many athletes that dropped out of this race than line up for most. Then imagine a mountain bike race that requires you to carry a backpack filled with supplies that must weigh at least 7.5 pounds just in case “something happens” and you’ll better understand what it takes to just finish this leg of the competition!
So the next time you are feeling a bit tweaked at the end of a long ride imagine Leif…coming up from the depths of lactate hell to overtake you. We are proud to boast Leif as a Training Bible coached athlete in all disciplines.
